Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 55-65 minutes.
  6. Prepare glaze: melt 1/2 cup butter, stir in 3/4 cup sugar and 2 tbsp water, heat until sugar dissolves, then stir in 1 tsp vanilla.
  7. Poke holes in hot cake and slowly pour glaze over top.
  8. Cool completely before inverting onto a plate.
